I recently laid my paws on a Sony RX100 (the original Mk 1 version) as I was after something small yet powerful to take out and about, notably to Glastonbury. Having lugged my DSLR around the world’s greatest music and performing arts festival in 2016 I felt like a little lightening of the load would help.

I’m still learning it’s ins-and-outs — and it’s a little (OK, a lot) battle-scarred from its previous owner — but I’ve already fallen in love with the little fella. Being both robust and pocketable it makes a great tool for using at music festivals and other outdoor events even though it isn’t waterproof.

Luckily, this year was one of the driest and warmest Glastonbury festival’s for a while (since the heatwave of 2010) so weather-proofing wasn’t an issue. If there had been a bad weather outlook I would have had to have taken my Pentax K5 again…
